24 Members of The 27 Club

How did Jimi Hendrix die? What about Robert Johnson? Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones or Jim Morrison- how did they die? These rock stars- and many more- passed tragically at the young age of 27, and in the public consciousness, they have joined "The 27 Club." But why do so many musicians seem to die at that age? In this video we tell the stories of 24 musicians who are in ...

I like how you broke down their releases until you forgot, Wild Mood Swings, that was released in 1996 after Wish in 1992. Wild Moods Swings is a great album, with some of the best B sides to date. I've heard all 5 new songs from Songs Of ALost World and I think it's as good as anything they have done. This album is going to be another masterpiece.
Last Doors Show at the Warehouse here in New Orleans. Goodbye 👋 Jim. Much love, Robert Duggan
They should have asked for their money back from the Dead.
We need every Friday night video. I miss you.
Why is it been seven months? I miss you and a lot of people do.
I was at the Brighton Top Rank show it was wild. the Gig started with lux being struck in the face with a can or bottle or something someone from the audience throw at him in the which pissed him off from there on he was crazy. He kept trying to wrap his mic lead around the stage lights and pull them down. At one point Lux climbed up onto the balcony. straddled between the balcony and the Speaker Stack about 20 feet above us and took his silver pants down, we thought he was gonna piss on us. He ended the show being dragged of stage wrapped in a towel. It was a great mind blowing show and a great night, We all ended up across the road at Sister Rays a seedy basement new wave/punk/goth club and I ended the night with one of my mates vomiting on my new suede shoes. haha! good times.
It’s so sad the narrator sounds like he never saw the CRAMPS live. Having seen them over 40 times. You need to do WAY BETTER THAN THIS.
This is a much needed deep dive on a very cool and somewhat underrated band, yet very influential band. Thank you, very well narrated .
Seen The Cramps at the Hootenanny in Irvine, CA in 2004. One of the most memorable shows I've ever seen, and glad to say I seen them. I was a Junior in HS.im 37 now
geoff Travis
this background music is bringing me down
The prom queen of my high school, I was not popular or blessed with chiseled GQmagazine good looks but she happened to be friends with her best friend, kindly gave me 2 of her original vinyl records of the first LPs Big Lizard and Eat Your Paisley - there they will stay in my record collection that just grew from the passing of a cousin who left his collection to me, and I pass it will go to another record collector
I thing musicians and athletes get paid way too much.Music would be much better if it wasn't for the money.
Anyone who calls themselves The Incredible String Band can never live up to that name.
They should be in the Rock hall of fame, they were the very definition of rock and roll.
Damn, i knew Morrissey was weirdly but firmly gay, on the other hand, i didn't know Johnny was kinda gay too (i know, he had a gf, but some of the words he uses in the book just sound like they were in love).
I played there many times and several different bands. CB was an iconic Landmark
To set the record straight Michael Purkhiser, Lux’s younger brother (that’s me)was who recorded the The Cramps Ohio Demos in my little home studio in our parent’s basement. Really digging the documentary btw. Cheers
I'm the garbage man! Do you want the real stuff or are you just bluffing!
Saw GnR opening for The Cult at the Santa Cruz civic around '87. We had no idea who they were. They were incredibly loud and we were hooked.
Loved it!
Taxidermy, really? I am pretty sure Murphy is a bit ashamed of that. Get a sense of humour, you are all in show business.
Are you scolding David J? :) thanks for watching
Well I missed The Cramps. Have some vynil records and I've been following them for many years. I've been to other "crazy live shows" like Iggy Pop or Jane's Addiction, but I believe The Cramps have been one of the last real Rock N Roll bands (rockabilly & garage roots) most rebellious and on the knife edge. Definitely they had their own thing like no other.
Great documentary with really nice graphics! Such an amazing band ❤
Thanks Lucy! Check the Robert smith vid!
No Bad Brains in '82? For shame!
Watch part two!
I met Miles Copeland once. He was a rude fucking asshole.
Love Siouxie Sioux! Great, unique voice. Great stage presence. I kived in LA for some year & was invited to their show by a lical promoter, wires got crossed missed it. Would have been back stage, after gatherings. To this day when I listen to them I think of that missed opportunity! 😭
Thank-you so very much! I saw the Cramps in Cleveland Ohio, great great show.
Saw then at east leagues club Brisbane Australia. Wow! What a night , just blew me away!
I never cared for any of their music, but IMO they are the cutest couple of Rock and Roll.
I really love my favorite biggest crush on Robert Smith
Totally
The photo of power/lighting cables at 7:40 is from the 1993 Peter Gabriel Secret World Live tour
Thanks so much for that!! I could not figure it out
Thank You so much, this is a fantastically researched documentary. Congratulation, very well done.
Thanks Rodney!!
❤
Thanks
Hilly asked if I would bring him a plate of rice and beans from home. ... & later when every band were playing homage to CBGB closing, I saw my name FLORES in large print finally in the village voice while I was at home sitting in the family dining room.
Wow!
3 members of the 27 club are missing : actor Jonathan Brandis, Jim Morrison's girlfriend Pamela Courson and the 1st member of the club was Joseph Merrick AKA The Elephant Man
Yeah I decided not to included non-musicians. Interesting about the elephant man! Did not know that
I met them at Whole Foods in 97, before a concert. They were really nice! told them how much i enjoyed their music.... Just cool normal people.
Whoa!! Whole foods!!
@@rocdocs yeah....I worked close....b shift.....went there to get food. Ran into them. I think we were both surprised.....as my job was not a typical punk. But my love of music and freedom is great. I really hope I made an impact on the stereotypes. They are my top 10 favorite bands in my life. Wish poison ivy would consider training band and give us a needed concert. I might even be a groupie and follow concert. Handful of bands I adore
@@rocdocs yeah we both had to eat!🤣
Großartig! Ihr macht einen wirklich guten Job, Mädels! Klasse!!! 👍
Yooo, very nice intervieww!!
Thanks man!!!
Thanks ! Appreciate it
The Halloween Show in '79 with Suicide, The Cramps and Iggy Pop at The Palladium on 14th Street in NYC...with my good friend, Bob Guerevics from Tier 3, Downtown..
Wow that must have been incredible.
And LA Woman Is a smidge better than the doors other voices minus the Morrison.
You can see why the Smiths had a young gay male following
Yeah it’s not surprising! Lol
Good documentry the Smiths were a good indie band(indie scene inc bands like Soup Dragons/Happy Mondays etc) how kids nowadays have ever connected them to Goth or post punk i will never know most stupid funny idea
Thank you!!🙏
IF ONLY AMERICANS WOULDN'T DO THESE I FIRST SAW THEM JUST BEFORE THE SCRAM CAME OUT WAS NOT POST PUNK IT WAS 100% PUNK! & I SAW JOIN HANDS TOUR IN 79 WITH THE CURE SUPPORTING IT WAS 100% PUNK AGAIN WAY BEFORE GOTH THAT THE BANSHEES WERE NEVER PART OF(NEITHER HAS THE CURE) & FEW OTHER THINGS WRONG IN THIS VODEO AS ALWAYS IS, I SAW THE FIRST OFFICIAL GIG WITH MeGeoch ON GUITAR BRILLIANT GUITARIST
saw them in Seattle in 2001, The best show I ever saw
I’ve been into music and art most my life as an artist and a fan and the Cramps were an absolutely amazing band and some of the best shows I’ve ever been to 👍💯
I am watching this video on CBGB and I was there in78or 79 and hung out with most everyone mentioned-I was smoking “ill” with the Beasties before they got FAMOUS. That’s angle dust-Getting ill. License to ill- smoken diesel!!! Where’s my peeps!!! Dust heads of NYC-Zombies of Woodside Queens!?!? I remember YOU!❤
Forgot Mark Mothersbaugh...
Lux passed away, Lemmy died. Anybody talks about Rock'n'roll today???
Glad you at least mentioned The Dead boys they had legendary shows there. They deserved a bit more love though. They even acted as house band. Even though the band didn't last long they still were highly influential.
Check out episode two! It delves more into them
